In celebration of Annual Banned Books Week, I’m joining the Defense of Democracy for their annual fundraising event called Readout 2024. Banned Books Week was created in response to the surge in the number of challenges to books in libraries, bookstores, and schools. “Ban Banning Books”, I say, especially since I have written one!
Defense of Democracy is the only national nonpartisan nonprofit working to protect our public schools from attacks by religious extremist groups. Readout 2024 welcomes librarians, educators, authors, publishers, booksellers, and readers of all types — in shared support of the freedom to seek and to express ideas.

Let’s face it, my book, “Won’t Be Silent—Don’t Stop ‘til It Matters” is headed to the dreaded Banned Books Bin because the story revolves around a gay character, ME! So let’s get together on Tuesday. We can chat about my book, discuss the election, and… and… and…
I will donate a portion of proceeds to the Defense of Democracy for every book sold this week.
