Think Back To March 2020, Then Decide Who Has Your Vote
Please Take A Couple Minutes To Relive That Fateful Moment
After four glorious days of the Democratic National Convention, I was listening to a few podcasts this morning and every one of them were saying. “Yeah, the DNC was inspiring, Kamala was and is great, yet there's still a chance that she could lose.”
This harkens back to 2016, need I mention her name, and the importance of the work that we have ahead of us starting today. Before I journey out to do whatever I can to help, which I did in 2020, might I remind all of us that we are not in foreign territory. Honey, we got him out of the White House in 2020, so keeping him out of it is conceivably something we can do, must you, will do. Have faith, trust, and work.
Please do me a favor. I’d like to read you a paragraph from my book, “Won't Be Silent – Don’t Stop ‘til It Matters” because this passage is very fitting to the post DNC moment we are in now. The scene takes place in my home in March 2020. It’s what galvanized me and so many others emotionally and spiritually to take action leading into what was then—as it is now—“The most consequential election of our lives”. It’s important for me to hear this again because I haven't looked at the book in a while, but it’s relevant—so relevant—to how I feel now. And it’s why I want to share it with you. So please, read this short riff from the chapter called:
We Can’t and Won’t Be Silent
‘Twas NOT the night before Christmas when all through the house, not a creature was stirring, not even a...
Wait, in fact, it was 3:15 in the morning on March 20, 2020, after Governor Gavin Newsom implemented the COVID-19 lockdown. There was that same ominous feeling of “not a creature was stirring, not even a mouse.” Actually, all of America wasn’t stirring around that time, except for that heinous piece of shit Donald Trump tweaking and tweeting in the White House on his Adderall concoction, spewing nonsense about shoving bleach up someone’s orifice as a possible remedy for the horrifying pandemic he had ushered into the United States due to his arrogance.
Within the next few days, the world became paralyzed in their homes, afraid to breathe for fear that the deadly virus was going to get us all. In one fell swoop, we held our collective breath, transfixed and terrorized as we were confronted with our mortality. No matter how much money you had, how evolved spiritually you thought you were, no matter what age you happened to be, death was knocking at your door. End times had come, and the only people who felt hopeful were Evangelical Christians because they could finally enjoy the rapture without having to schlep to Bethlehem.
This is a clear reminder of what Trump did to this country at the most critical point when everyone was transfixed and horrified and in our homes—wondering what catastrophe loomed large.
So, I’m asking you to think back to that fateful time we survived. Do you remember how you felt at the moment of reckoning? How angry you were at Trump, watching his daily ridiculous press conferences? Making a mockery of people dying, and governors trying to do their jobs, being ridiculed by the most ridiculous person ever!
This can not happen again. We, the People must stop the enemy at the gate. Trump his Christian Nationalist zealots and assorted, bigoted cronies must be minimized, cauterized, and shown the door. Let them all crawl back under the rocks from whence they came.
