The Battle of Wits — or Is It Witlessness?
The Insufferable Left vs. the Self-Righteous Right, Where Nobody Wins
Since leaving the Democratic Party — and committing to never again join either side unless something or someone remotely interesting happens — I’ve taken my seat at center court. From here, I watch this endlessly contentious Battle of Witlessness play out, where the Insufferable Left and the Self-Righteous Right lob backhanded insults at each other in a desperate attempt to slam-dunk vile accusations while trying to prove whose dick is bigger.
Both sides are obsessed with winning the argument, not the future. And in this game of who-cares-who-scores, they’re all proving to be a bunch of ineffectual eunuchs — where no one really wins a losing battle. This applies to the political landscape — a stage cast with inept politicians — and even more so to the social media climbers in the influencer vomitorium.
From where I sit, the pontificators are boisterous, self-gratifying egomaniacs. The Left has created a slew of podcasts like I’ve Had It — where the hosts have clawed their way to newfound celebrity under the guise of candor — while the Right counters with the vile, immoral theatrics of Candace Owens, serving up lies and outrage as gospel.
Last — and least interesting — are the 24-hour, nauseating TikTok live-streamers who are nothing more than political wannabe carnival barkers. Harry Sisson, once a good kid, now performs like a circus animal for clicks, chicks, and anyone willing to pay him to talk shit about Donald Trump. The recent meme of Harry getting covered in crap was immature and gross, yet perfectly symbolic — because that’s what the digital arena has become. Everyone’s covered in it, and no one’s losing the stench.
[SIDEBAR] Since the October 7 war, I’ve lost interest in building more followers, kowtowing for clicks and likes — especially because it was never a source of revenue. I have come to despise the countless antisemites who have revealed their hateful, evil, spiteful, gross selves and wish them all the same endings as my grandparents.
So, I’m enjoying sitting here at center court, where the view is clear and the hypocrisy muddled on both sides. I won’t cheer for the Insufferable Left or the Self-Righteous Right, as neither is worthy of my second glance. The game of lost chances has been reduced to despicable team players who’ve lost their humanity while claiming to be the ones on the right side of history. Meanwhile, history will not be kind to either side. As they try to battle for the moral high ground, both sides come off as the lowest of lowlifes.
What does matter is the country they’re leaving behind while chasing clout, clicks, and bloviating on cable chat shows. We the people deserve better than this endless battle of hateful blather — and until something or someone truly interesting, or at least honest, returns to the court of public opinion, I’ll be right here, courtside, refusing to play a game where everyone’s already lost.
