"Peaced Off" - An Israel-Palestine Film & Conversation Series
I'd Like To At Least Try and Bring Humanity Back Into The Vernacular
Peaced Off—An Israel-Palestine Film & Conversation Series—is a project I’m working on with The Film Collaborative, an organization dedicated to transparency in the film industry while fostering creative expression and cultural exchange. What… too soon? It’s never too soon to try and calm tensions that are running way too high. Yes, the odds of finding common ground may seem about as likely as a ceasefire that actually lasts, and maybe there’s not a shot in hell for a solution that works for everyone. But I’ll be damned if I’m not standing on the right side of good versus evil.
In a time when the conversation around the Middle East has been hijacked by political tsunamis, media spin, and performative outrage, Peaced Off is an attempt to bring humanity back into the vernacular through films and conversations. We must refuse to let the loudest, angriest voices define the narrative or allow disinformation to do a victory lap while the rest of us are feeling helpless to what’s happening in this tumultuous moment we are living through.
Despite the chaos, there are still those of us searching for a better way forward—one that acknowledges complexity, embraces dialogue, and refuses to let bad-faith actors strip away our shared humanity. And at the heart of it all is storytelling—because stories have the power to remind us of our shared struggles, with the intention to make people feel empathetic—again.
WHAT:
The Film Collaborative presents Peaced Off, a curated film and conversation series that brings together filmmakers, historians, archaeologists, and media experts to address misinformation and polarization surrounding the Middle East conflict. Through balanced, fact-based programming and thoughtful dialogue, the initiative fosters listening, empathy, and understanding—offering audiences the opportunity to broaden their perspectives. Proud to be part of this initiative.
WHY:
The region has long faced conflict and division, shaped by complex histories and competing narratives. Disinformation and media bias have further distorted understanding, making it harder to find common ground. Peaced Off aims to share truth, highlight our shared humanity, and embrace all perspectives and faiths—Palestinian, Israeli, Jewish, Muslim, and Christian—creating space for honest dialogue, mutual understanding, and a path toward peace.
We’re just getting started—so wish me luck. I’m currently building an Advisory Committee of educators, journalists, historians, and archaeologists who are deeply engaged in this space. If anyone comes to mind who should be part of this, let me know. The more voices we bring to the table, the better chance we have of making Peaced Off a force for real dialogue and change. As soon as things take shape, I will keep you posted.
Peace—literally & figuratively—ABE
Sounds like a very important project, wishing you all the best. One thing I noticed in these hostage swaps was haamas returning the hostages parading them with their weapons and putting them on display while the other side just releasing. I'm super irritated at the uncommitted folk, I feel like if they do not appreciate democracy of the USA they should willingly return to their origin and fight the good fight whatever that may be. I'm not thinking any of them were for " from the river to the riviera " j s
Abe: The formula that you search for exists in Israel today. All the Palestinians have to do is think Peace rather than the extermination of the Jewish people & the State of Israel.
Remove the UN Agencies from the equations.
