Since November 6, 2024, I’ve felt politically homeless.
Like many of you, I came of age believing in Democratic values—decency, inclusion, justice, compassion. Over the past few years, and especially since October 7, something broke. The party I once trusted has become reckless with language, indifferent to antisemitism, and morally incoherent when clarity matters most. That closed my heart in a way I never expected.
I didn’t drift away. I walked away—with intention—and found my way forward as No Party Preference.
I wasn’t looking for another party, and I wasn’t looking for a savior. I was looking for sanity. For competence. For honesty. For someone who understands that leadership is about fixing what’s broken, not inflaming it.
That’s how I came to Ethan Penner.
