Why do I feel like we are living in Bizarro World? How is it that women’s rights and issues related to their well-being and healthcare are seemingly forever on the chopping block while masked marauders have been given free reign to torment Americans in the streets, at their places of worship, work and homes? WTAF!
Seeing—yet another—American flag being burned by despicable terrorists—or worse—wannabe terrorists is unacceptable. This should NOT be tolerated by “law enforcement”. Though lately, those two words strung together seem as useless and the impact they’re having—or not having—on these horrendously vile, screaming clumps of American Jihadists that are stinking up our streets.
These angry mobs—covered in what I just saw being sold as tablecloths on Etsy—have been allowed to get away with using the First Amendment as a right to threaten our citizens. If you know me, you know, I have been calling for an amendment to the First Amendment for years. We have gone way beyond just screaming “FIRE” in a movie theater. What are we waiting for? Some unfortunate inciting incident—a tragic loss of life here on our shores—before we FINALLY get our mayors, governors, and assorted ineffective government hacks to get on the stick and lay down the gauntlet to deal with these criminals. I feel like Heidi Klum, “Either you’re in, or you’re out”. Only in this scenario, you’re in or out of AMERICA!
Which is why I am beseeching the Women’s Movement to galvanize like they used to back in the day. The patriarchy is still on the march, and just because the partisan-anti-abortion Supreme Court gave Mifepristone a win yesterday, keep in mind that no one faired better than Big Pharma with that ruling. Yes, indeed. The worst members of SCOTUS are in bed with those crony capitalists, so keep your enthusiasm in check and your eyes on the ball. Don’t be dissuaded from coming together even louder and prouder because your future, and that of your daughters’ depends on the Supreme Court and how that develops. November has to be all about the senate as much if not more so than president. THREE WORDS OF CAUTION: AMY CONEY BARRETT! Especially now that Trump and Mitch McConnell have hopped back in the sack—sorry for that visual. (Brech = vomit in Yiddish.) The senate will most assuredly impact the evolution of the Supreme Court. Lest we not forget that old age is an ongoing issue throughout every branch of our government.
Yes, there is great optimism that we can garner from the wins in favor of birth control legislation that we have enjoyed in several recent state races since Roe v Wade was overturned. However, the force majeure of social media algorithms, which serves as the news to many are currently in favor of the flag burners. This brings me to my headline yearning for bra burning. I’d love to see a resurgence of the 1970s version of the Women’s Movement, since the one from 2017 puttered out. Bring back the enthusiasm from when they were out there burning their bras. Maybe then, the click bait obsessed media and social media climbers, I mean, influencers would cover your stories more obsessively. Clearly they love fire and brimstone, case in point, these wannabe Nazis.
Peace—literally, figuratively, & hopefully…
Abe
PS…Listening to my Audiobook while walking can be very meditative and hilarious.
I found your article amusing because Flag Day (yesterday) is the traditional day for burning old flags! My Scout leader son so informed me. ✌️
